After living in their Sudbury, Massachusetts, home for nearly 10 years, this young family considered relocating but opted instead for an extensive renovation, both inside and out. At the top of their wish list was a four-season sunroom that would allow them to enjoy the property year-round. They also wanted a home theater, a wine cellar, and a proper master suite.
Juggling school, work and sports—and with quality family time paramount—the family needed a home that could double as a getaway from the rest of the world. They wanted their home to be welcoming and child friendly while still reflecting a quiet elegance. Nicole worked closely with the homeowners to develop a color palette that directly related to their surroundings. Earth-tone colors grace the walls, and warm wood tones add strength and distinction to the furniture pieces.
Nicole was inspired by texture over color and pattern, infusing grass cloth, mohair, leather, and linens into each space. The couple had fun choosing contemporary art that played beautifully off the more traditional pieces throughout the home. Small vignettes help create an intimate feel in this rolling house. A bench tucked near the far window in the sunroom allows family members to relax or read while feeling connected to the outdoors. A new home theater accommodates up to 10 people while still feeling cozy. Two mohair-covered club chairs overlook the stone wine cellar just off the theater, and a master bedroom with a balcony offers privacy and the chance for a quiet cup of coffee before the day starts.
